Now, if you have a lead capture page set up, you can use it in surf exchanges, or put it in ads.
Keep in mind that axiom about needing to contact someone up to seven times, before they will make a purchase.
This is the beauty of this type of system; that the follow ups and or unsubscribe are handled automatically with your auto responder.
If you try to keep track of this and handle it all manually, you will kill yourself and use up
productive time that you will need to run other aspects of your business.
As I?ve said, you don?t necessarily have to have a newsletter, although this is not such a bad idea. You need to load at least seven ads or follow-ups into your auto responder, putting three days to a week between each mailing.
Often times I delay the first message one day and ask folks, on my thank you page to add my autoresponder address into the address book of their E-mail, because spam filters are one of the
biggest problems with E-mail campaigns.
People will sign-up for things and forget that they have their spam filter set on high.
Some marketing programs will not allow sign-ups from certain E-mail providers for this reason.
Of course, it?s not a good idea to just load the same ad and hit your prospect with the same ad seven
times. Perhaps the affiliate program you are promoting provides you with pre-written ads, so by all means try using these, if you can find seven different ones.
It doesn?t hurt to add a little bit of a personalized touch to these ads, and if you don?t have pre-written ads, or don?t like the ones provided, there?s no reason not to write your own.
The first one is the most important, naturally. Above all, be sure to remind them of how and why they are receiving your E-mail. People sign-up for things and forget that they did or thought it was something else.
Be cordial and thank them for their interest. Always provide an un-subscribe link.
You may wish to make the first contact a short sort of introductory letter, describing (briefly!) your experiences of marketing on the internet and how you?ve benefited from whatever it is you are promoting.
We?ve all seen this type of E-mail; ?I spent ten years losing money on the internet until I discovered---?
People relate to the personal experience and feel more comfortable that they are not dealing with some large franchise that will treat them like a number. Testimonials are always a good idea, if you can provide those.
The first part of your ad is about getting people?s attention. This would be your subject line in your E-mail or E-zine ad.
This should be as short as possible, but should sum-up the most important BENEFITS people will get from this product.
We?ve all seen gimmicky subject lines like ?Re-your account,? or ?Congratulations! You?ve won!? and you can use these, if you like, but speaking personally, I delete a lot of these on sight, and, if I open them, as soon as I read the first sentence, they?re history.
Another thing about subject lines; after the first contact, and assuming they haven?t un-subscribed; you will want to go with branding for your follow-ups.
Branding means you identify yourself or your product in the subject line. When I open E-mails, the very first thing I look at is who it?s from.
I have certain people I want E-mails from, and I have folders for them, in case I don?t have time to read them at that moment. Anyone else is very suspect and is likely to get a quick delete or even an un-subscribe.
This opinion is also given in the Doubleclick 2004 Consumer Email Study;
?64% of respondents cite the ?From? line as the most important factor motivating them to open permission-based email?
The second part of the ad is known as interest. You perk their curiosity, by asking them a question or telling a story. By asking what could be more of a ?natural,? I?m planting the idea that it?s
an easy way to make money, which people always like.
The third part of the ad is referred to as desire. Above all else, you must stress the benefits that someone will get from using the product or service and not just list all the features.
What will they get out of it?
This is the all important question that you must answer!
The fourth and final part is called action. This is where you tell them what to do. You say ?buy now!,? or ?click here.?
I am including a brief excerpt from the 2005 CANSPAM rules;
Effective January 1, 2004, The Can-Spam Act of 2003 full text here
requires that all
commercial e-mail carry a valid physical postal address.
(5) INCLUSION OF IDENTIFIER, OPT-OUT PHYSICAL ADDRESS IN COMMERCIAL
ELECTRONIC MAIL-
(A) It is unlawful for any person to initiate the transmission of any
commercial electronic mail message to a protected computer unless the
message provides--
(i) clear and conspicuous identification that the message is an
advertisement or solicitation;
(ii) clear and conspicuous notice of the opportunity under paragraph
(3) to decline to receive further commercial electronic mail messages
from the sender; and
(iii) a valid physical postal address of the sender.
The new law requires that any company sending commercial e-mail
have a valid physical postal address in that e-mail.
In the new Spam rules there is a section about false claims
of spam, the person that complains and can not prove it
can be fined 250.00 the first time.
